UPDATE: Tech won, 38-7. A friend saw the bell on TV and snapped a picture.
Anyone who knows us knows we bleed red and black and are Dawgs through and through. However, when I was growing up, my grandfather was a huge Tech fan. This article appeared in the Atlanta Constitution in 1964.
From what my dad told me, after Tech left the SEC the rivalry died down and the bell was put aside. Some years ago, daddy contacted Tech, the bell was located, and he drove from Augusta to Atlanta to get it. He had the bell refurbished, recent scores engraved, and found someone to make a new leather strap; then he returned the bell to Tech.
Then today Kate saw this article on Facebook (I'm including it below, in case the link ever breaks)...
I know my granddaddy and daddy would be SO tickled that the cowbell is back in action this weekend!
