The service today was perfect. Every word spoken was exactly what needed to be said. All three of his sons spoke to his influence on their lives. Kate spoke for the grandchildren and if I'm being honest, her words were perfect. She'd talked to each cousin and asked for a word to describe Gramps, so that they all had a part in what she said. So, so proud of our girl (oh, and it was her birthday). Nancy Scarbrough's words and references to To Kill a Mockingbird ("Miss Jean Louise, stand up, your father's passin'") were perfect. Stand up, indeed.
Those who have experienced loss know just how much it means to see the faces and feel the hugs of friends and family; we appreciate so much everyone who took the time to let us know we're not alone.
As you might imagine, we were all pretty drained. An easy night in front of the fire was good medicine.

Such a bittersweet day for her.

|So good to have Ross with us.|

Ross left tonight...others will head home tomorrow. We'll always be grateful for the time we spent together this week and for the man we will miss forever.
