More than a father-in-law...

I will never forget how much this man loved me.

He had a long and distinguished career, but he was happiest with a child in his arms and was known to say, in the midst of complete chaos, "The children are precious."

Timberrrrrrrrr

We needed a few pine trees removed. Roots had torn up the driveway. Some had suffered lightening strikes. A few just had some really bad spots and would not live much longer.

Unfortunately, pines were the only trees native to our lot.

We're still at the beginning stages of the tree removal process but we're realizing that we are on our way to looking like new construction!

It will take some planning and time, but some new landscaping (and oh, how I wish I could reroute the driveway) is in the works. Maybe I'll have some 'after' pictures in a few years!

E.W.'s Birthday

An unexpected birthday treat...grandchildren came to visit!

Ellie and Emma decided that they needed to work on some sidewalk art to celebrate E.W.'s birthday...

...while these two watched the game. So thankful for a win! E.W. says there's always a win when it's his birthday.

Adding the final touches...

Ta da!

After Mack's nap he and Ashley arrived. Somehow E.W. convinced them that picking up pine cones would be fun. Maybe it had something to do with pitching them in the fire pit?

Nothing fancy, but E.W. declared it a fine birthday.

Garfield with Odie, Bat Girl, Superman, and Cinderella

Ashley, Kate, and I took the kids around the neighborhood while the men and Banks stayed at the house. I'm not sure when I've laughed so hard.

Bat Girl was so excited with her costume choice. It suited her perfectly.

Sweetest Emma had been sick but thankfully
was well enough to be a part of the festivities. Precious.

Superman! He does his own thing.

The Berryman boys, Garfield and Odie

The whole crew. I was proud that Banks just sat up there like a big kid.

Loaded up and ready to go!

First house!

Mack checked out the decor at every house. So funny.

I guess I was so busy laughing that I didn't get a picture of the defining moment of the night (there's one on Ashley's post). Some people had left candy on the porch and instead of taking a piece or two like the others, Mack grabbed handfuls. His bucket was SO full. We were staying in the golf car while the kids ran up to the door, so we didn't realized what was going on at first. Ellie took control; at the next house with help yourself candy, she blocked him from going on the porch and just gave him one piece. He was NOT happy as she dragged him back to the golf car, telling him, "You are no fun to trick-or-treat with!" His fury lasted about a minute and then it was off to the next house!

Losing (again) and cousins run wild.

Halloween day was a family fun day (all except the debacle that was the GA/FL game). It makes me happy when all of my children and grandchildren are together; thanks to Worth and Ashley for having us all at their home. Making memories...

pre-game warmup

The engine and caboose of our grandchildren train.

Ellie is the best Big Cousin.

Banks recognizes his old friend.

I want some water in a Halloween cup, too.

Auntie Kate and her only nephew.

Coach Kate works with Ellie. Mack thinks he's involved.

Work on that skill!

Lots of crazy going on in this photo. Kate coaching Ellie, Bo chasing Emma,
and I don't even know what to tell you about Mack upside down.

The Berrymans wondering if the Dawgs will ever score a touchdown again.

This girl loves Baby Banks.

Will Georgia fans ever have a reason to smile again?

These two ended up covered in pine straw...

...which resulted in a scrubbing down before getting dressed
for trick-or-treating. After the water was let out of the tub,
there was nearly enough dirt to pot a plant!
Next up: Trick-or-Treating, Bowers/Berryman style.
