We could not be any more delighted to welcome this precious boy into our family!
William Fairbanks "Banks" Berryman
7:16 pm - December 29, 2014
9 pounds, 1 ounce - 21 inches long
William is Jay's middle name, in honor of his maternal grandfather and Fairbanks was my dad's middle name. Also? The genealogy nerd in me is loving that Banks is a fourteenth generation descendant of Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks.

Our family's pretty scattered; a lot of our Christmasing involved facetime and phone calls. Still, an altogether wonderful day.
Not awake and wondering what is going on.
Basketball goal catches his eye right away.
Not a fan of his Mickey slippers but definitely a fan of a book.
...until he sees what Santa left in the back yard!
Look, y'all! A treehouse!
Tryin' it out.
Santa left me a harmonica, too.
Ellie and Emma got harmonicas, too!
E.W. and I spent part of the day with mama...so blessed.
Next up (we hope): The arrival of baby Banks!

It really is so much fun to spend one-on-one time with a grandchild. Yesterday, Mack was a good sport when I dragged him to Sam's so I was glad for the pretty weather when we got back home...perfect for playing outside...his favorite place!
Wanna play ball?
I need to rake, but this little one's not gettin' it.
Now we're talking!
King of the Slide. If you don't believe me, here's proof.

Some years ago I saw this amazing image. I did a little research and found out about Wreaths Across America and thought, "How nice."
Now it's personal.
An old high school friend who lives in Maine posted this on my facebook page earlier this week:
Today, someone I don't know and will never meet shared this picture with me:
For a little background, HERE's a six minute video that shows how the patriotism of one family has grown into a national organization.

Of course we celebrate family birthdays throughout the year, but we also have a birthday season. We're halfway through this year's!
It starts in November with E.W. Two weeks later is my mama's birthday. Five days after hers is Kate's and five days after that is Worth's. Bo's is four days after Worth's and we will soon be adding Banks to our December birthday list. Lucky Jay with his wife and both kids having December birthdays!

You'd think Kate would have been scarred by this tree farm experience, but she is a firm believer in a REAL tree still; we all are.
Confession. I did buy an artificial tree to put up this year. With a baby due Christmas Eve, Kate and her family won't be here and we'll celebrate the holiday at their house when Worth's bunch comes up to meet Banks. Also, I don't want E.W. to have to put away the ornaments; I have a system! Next year, when we're back in REAL tree mode, it can go in the dining room and play a supporting role in the festivities.
