Also, do you have any idea how hard it is to take a decent picture of four children?

Slumber Party

We have had so much fun with Ellie and Emma tonight. Ellie is deep in the grips of imaginative play and Emma just goes right along with it. I'm not sure when we've laughed more.

Snack at the coffee table turned kids' table for the night.

Chapstick - The child can only say a few words clearly and
chapstick is one of them. She knows E.W. has one, always.

There was musical entertainment and dancing
(scroll down for video clip).

Yeah, girls wrestle, too.

Emma wasn't too sure of E.W.'s ability to 'do hair' ...

...but she left a satisfied customer.

As promised, here's a video clip of the musical entertainment portion of the evening...you will notice that Emma isn't quite as enthusiastic a performer as Ellie.

Meeting the Cousins

This afternoon I was looking back over pictures from yesterday. Emma seeing her cousin for the first time reminded me of Freddie's initial reaction to Ellie

Ellie, on the other hand, couldn't get her hands on him fast enough. All day she kept saying, "Baby Bo is VERY cute."

He must take after his cousins.

(edited 12-30-12) Worth got a great shot of the three of them, so of course I 'borrowed' it from their blog! Emma is giving Bo her signature look and Ellie's grin is perfect.

Two weeks old on Christmas Day!

Bo and his Mia enjoyed some sweet one-on-one first thing Christmas morning!

Christmas: A Day Early

Every year we tell Worth and Kate to figure out when we are all getting together for Christmas and then let us know. This year, it worked out best to make a day of it on Christmas Eve. We kicked off with Ellie and Emma meeting their cousin (Baby Bo); Worth and Ashley were pretty excited to meet their nephew, too! Sa and Gramps made the trip over and I'm pretty sure Bo made a good impression on them as well.

Before we sat down to brunch, Worth read the story of Jesus' birth from Luke and Ellie said the blessing. We spent the afternoon exchanging gifts and laughter. Ellie was a most enthusiastic elf and Bo cooperated by hanging out and then snoozing. Emma was content to share hugs and smiles; don't think she's quite figured out the gift thing! All of that was followed by the traditional (at least for our family!) Christmas Eve dinner of ribs and a multitude of sides. We did forego one tradition, candlelight service at church followed by a gathering with friends. That venture would have been a bit ambitious with a two-weeks-old-on-Christmas-Day Bo.

Now it's almost midnight. Worth and Ashley are home with Ellie and Emma tucked in tight, ready for Santa in the morning. Everyone here's asleep and I'm up with Bo for a bit. Jay, Kate, and Bo are leaving in the morning for Christmas with Jay's family, so I'm stealing all the time with him I can! It's also a pretty good time to reflect on the blessings of our day spent with children and grandchildren.

Kate's Girls: Edition 2012

Those who couldn't be here this year were missed (and we hope you can come next December 23rd), but just look at the gorgeous girls who were able to come. Since last December two have married, one became engaged, and two had babies (with another expected in just a few months)!

Love this Christmas tradition!

From Our House to Yours

Yep, we added an extra picture to our card at the last minute. Our third grandchild, Bo, will be two weeks old on Christmas Day! We are looking forward to the reactions Ellie and Emma have when they meet their new cousin!

Wishing y'all the peace and joy at the heart of Christmas.

This is the scene that greeted us when we arrived at the hospital for Bo's birth! It felt like we were in a movie! Hallelujah, indeed.

Junebug Christmas

The Junebugs do love to get together; tonight we met for dinner. Perfect timing, as it turns out. More on that in a day or two.

love my junebugs!

In the meantime, my heart is hurting for a friend, so there's some sorrow mixed with joy this week.

33!

When Worth was small, he could not understand why Kate's birthday was five days before his. After all, he was the oldest. Bless him. Happy birthday,Worth (even though your sister's already had hers this week!).
