12.31.10

Better late than never!  Our Christmas Day was this morning and best thing?  Lots of loved ones. My folks and Jay all arrived safely yesterday and with the addition of Sa and Gramps this morning, we had a full and happy house.

My babies. Ha.

My sweet parents.

Worth's digging his new grill cover.

Ellie can't wait to try out
her new tailgate chair from Auntie Kate.

Gotta try it out.

New jeans, also from Auntie Kate.

A Sponge Bob snuggie. Yes, from Auntie Kate.

When the dust settled, E.W. and I began getting ready to ring in the new year in our usual style. When I looked back at photos from last year, I realized there was no need to even get my camera out for tonight's gathering. Same folks (with the addition of the Womacks - yay), same menu, and well, same everything.  We did review our predictions for 2010 and some were eerily accurate and some, shockingly enough, were off the wall.  Imagine that.

Missing In Action

With all of the crazy that's been going on this week (we just had Christmas this morning), Miss Scarlett is pulling another one of her disappearing acts.  Hope she comes home soon.

Christmas Eve

Technically, it was December 30th, but for us, it was Christmas Eve...
Ellie names Santa's reindeer.
Are they looking for Santa or for kitty cats?
Bachelor weekend strategy meeting, apparently.
Granddaddy weighs in.
Playing with Auntie Kate
Ellie loved her great-granddaddy taking care of her baby!
Ellie's "princess toes"
With the arrival of Jay, the B'ham crew, and my folks, we were ready for our Christmas Eve!  It's a happy time when we are together and E.W. and I smiled at having everyone around the table at once.

You just thought Christmas was last weekend.

Our stockings are still hung by the chimney with care. The gifts are spilling out from under the tree. Did we forget what day Saturday was? Why the delay? The best reason of all: we're waiting for everyone to be together! Today my parents and Jay arrive (Kate's been here all week - wedding stuff) and tomorrow the B'ham crew will arrive. When they do, we'll have our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (ribs!). Then I'll put on my kerchief and E.W. will put on his cap and we'll all settle down for a long winter's nap because Friday morning is the new Christmas Day!

Hey, at least this is better than the year at my in-laws when we didn't even put the tree up until the 27th!

I should be doing something constructive...

...but I couldn't resist designing a January header that incorporates some of the milestones we anticipate in 2011: another granddaughter, a wedding, and moves for both of our children!

Bitty Snowman

Ellie is petite and so is her snowman!

It's Official!

Nephew popped the question Christmas Eve!  Congratulations, George, and welcome to the family (officially!), Dena!  We are looking forward to the excitement of another wedding in the family and wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness.

It Takes Two...or Three

E.W. and his brothers gifted their folks with a larger-than-life flat screen for Christmas.  When did watching television get so complicated?  :)

Christmas!

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all mankind.
Titus 2:11

What a great message at church last night...

The Girls of Christmas

High School Girls, 2010 Edition
Tonight, like last year and the years before, the 'high school girls' came together to celebrate another Christmas.  This is a holiday tradition that I hope continues for a long, long time.  Aren't they beautiful?

Cheese!

Ellie got her good looks from her mama; now we know where she
 got her cheesin' skills!

Faux! Ho! Ho! (redux)

Last year, a sweet little girl invited me to the second grade Christmas concert.  This year, her sister invited me and once again, it did not disappoint.  Joining me in the festivities were her daddy and Uncle Cranky.  MM, we love being your faux grandparents!

Santa does what?

Gotta love Worth, at the wise old age of four, explaining Christmas to one year old Kate!  Give her credit; she's listening carefully!

Night Lights in the 'Hood

Tonight was luminary night in our 'hood.  Despite the gusting wind and temperatures rivaling the North Pole, the show must go on!

Look!  Here are two of the elves in front of their lighted doorway.

After the elves and their friends had supper, there were nine more lights... on the birthday cake of a special friend.  Happy birthday, C!

Trash Talk

Trash is one of our favorite holiday traditions.  When Worth was still at home, he was the instigator.  E.W. has taken up the slack and I've been drafted as his sous chef.  The goal is to make as much of this stuff as possible (and it freezes nicely, if you can keep folks from eating it all up the first day!).

My job?  Purchasing and staging.

E.W. studies the recipe and decides that cashews should be added.

One of the four required stirrings!

Mmm....spicy and delicious!  Promise we'll save some for you.

Excuse Me?

What is up with this forecast?

Apparently the weather man has forgotten that we live in the deep South or he's lost the memo that our December average is 61/40.

Or both.

Brr.

A Junebug Christmas

The friendship the four of us have is one of my Christmas blessings.  Love my Junebugs!
