One of Kate's best friends married yesterday and you know there's nothing like a wedding and the subsequent reception to bring out the happy in everyone! To protect the innocent, I am refraining from posting the video of the moves demonstrated when the DJ played Footloose. Let's just say Kevin Bacon would be proud.

Baseball, Blueberries, & Kabobs
While CMC and the Thunder were winning the championship in the ATL, CL and MM came over for a spend-the-night. We grilled kabobs and worked on the blueberry harvest a bit...love those faux grandchildren! If you'd like to see more summertime captures, visit I Should Be Folding Laundry.
34 and counting
Guess we've changed a little bit over the years but as we celebrate our 34th anniversary, we find that still like each other. :)

Way back when...
When M.M. (one of our 'faux grandchildren') is a famous artist, we'll be able to say we knew her way back when!

Nine Months Old!
From that determined look on her face, we don't think it will be long before her parents are going to have to run to keep up with her!
PS: Don't you just LOVE a little girl in a dress?

Mr. Disgusto

After our short adventure yesterday with Rhett, I came home (apologies in advance to bird lovers everywhere) to Putter Davis (aka Mr. Disgusto ) just doing what comes naturally. He was quite proud of himself, Miss Scarlett was curious, and I was just revolted.

Frankly, My Dear
This little fella arrived at our office door today, flinging himself against the glass repeatedly, as if he were trying to break in. When someone opened the door, he strolled right in as if he had arrived home. Although he had a collar, he was quite thin and all alone. E.W. and I looked at
each other; we knew it
was looking like Miss Scarlett and Putter Davis were going to get a baby brother. When he hissed at himself in the mirror, we knew he'd fit in with our crew. Then it occurred to E.W. that the secretary next door might like a kitten for her daughters (which she did), so Rhett (yes, we had already named him...can't you see he already had E.W. wrapped around his little paw?) has found a happy home.

Revolving Door

There has been so much coming and going around here; maybe we need to install a revolving door! Since the B'ham bunch came and went earlier in the week, E.W. spent a few days in Dalton (he was asked to introduce a friend who was being inducted into the GACA Hall of Fame) and Kate was here on her way to a former roommate's wedding. Now it's my turn to revolve out for the 17th annual Junebug beach trip! We're off this morning and by the time you read this we will have already laughed until we cried.

Saturday Shugah
E.W. got back in town just in time for a cookout (and OH MY it was delicious!) at Ashley's folks, where the B'ham bunch was stopping in on their way home from the beach. What a treat to get more 'shugah' from sweet Ellie.

Random Thursday
Kate's in a wedding this weekend and home was on the way, so we had random Thursday togetherness. Life is good!

Beach Babe
Here's a glimpse of Ellie's first beach day ever! Wonder what she thought of the feel of the sand under her feet and then the cool pool water as she coasted in her float? Gotta love technology and phones that send pictures to grandparents!
Sleepover

Ellie and her folks rolled in just before midnight last night, stopping over on their way to the beach. After impressing us with her new skills (crawling, dancing, saying 'uh-oh'), she figured she'd better get some sleep so she'd be ready for her debut on the sand.
Despite these wide-open eyes and hours of sleep in the car, a great night's sleep was had by all. :)
