Friday

Off to Jacksonville, full of optimism. Little did any of us know
JUST HOW UGLY it would be.

Meanwhile, Putter Davis and Miss Scarlett take a break from playing with their new favorite toy, the measuring tape, to worry about the big game. What do you mean, you can't tell they're worried?

Screen Shot

I couldn't resist making a screen shot of Ellie from the video clip Worth and Ashley posted yesterday on their blog. Can you tell that she's got her mama's beautiful eyes?

Women In Red Drive Men Wild

If you don't believe me, read it for yourself. Maybe that's why women who love the Dawgs have such appeal?

Pecan Pie

Would you like a piece of pie, just out of the oven? I promise it will be delicious (a guarantee I can make because I always use Sa's recipe).

Game Day: UGA 52 - LSU 38ou

Good friends, wonderful weather, and a Dawg win! Thanks to the Flemings for a great night.

The Ribs

These two. I don't even know what to tell you.

Brother has the chicks entranced. Or confused.
Hard to tell.

Emmett and Powell talking big...

...Powell forgets there is a two foot drop-off..

...looses his drink...

...but uses his athletic skills to recover!

Emmett is skeptical.

Thursday Night Bonus

Our new Chili's is opening Monday; tonight we were given a chance to help them train staff and in the process, the two of us enjoyed each other's company and a fabulous (read: free) meal. Thanks, Chili's! Sad that this is the most exciting thing that's happened here this week, isn't it? Then again, we are not big fans of drama.

I'm a Georgia Voter

Not only are we grateful that we live in America and have the privilege of voting, we really appreciate having the option of advance voting. Instead of going way out in the country to a volunteer fire station on a dirt road on the way to nowhere, we can just walk a block from the office to the election headquarters (Election Central as it's known around here) and complete the voting process in a matter of minutes. Sure beats the time I waited in line for nearly three hours with a baby on my hip (yes, it's been a while since the 1980 election!).

One Month Old!

Ellie is one month old today and we SO wish we were in B'ham to mark the occasion. See you soon, sweet pea.

Athletic Achievements and Random Sightings

Not a blowout but at least the Dawgs defeated the Vols. Whew! Here are some of the sights of the day (and there were some sights, especially in orange).

Pre-game ritual.

One is hot and the other cold.

Chillin' Dawgs

Wanda explains things to Emmett.

Bowers and Gaines

Gettin' deep.

The only Vols for miles around
manage to block the sidewalk....

...have the tiniest tailgate....

...and the most unusual fan. So sad this photo
does not show off her socks.

Dena and George

It's a nail-biter.

Sharing wisdom.

Meanwhile, in Birmingham, Daddy Dawg reported that Ellie paid close attention to the game and signaled the first touchdown. She also demonstrated her athletic ability by turning over from belly to back.

Go Dawgs!

Wearin' Red

We'll be in our red on Saturday, ready to bark between the hedges. Should be a great day as George and Dena are coming to help us in our anti-orange crusade. This time we hope for a blowout instead of a blackout.

His and Hers

Yes. This is why we have these chairs.
Putter Davis and Miss Scarlett are SO appreciative.

B'ham Days and Ellie at Two Weeks

I am blessed to have been able to spend almost a week with Ashley, Worth, and Ellie. Pictures never tell the whole story about how amazing a new life is, do they? Just the same, I am sharing a few pictures of some very special days...

One day, I will tell Ellie about the beginning of her life and how tenderly her mama and daddy cared for her right from the start.

Ellie's First Modeling Assignment

Ellie (two weeks old today!) was quite content during her first photo shoot, at least until she found out that the last set was diaper only. We'd like to think she's modest but in reality she's just a fan of being wound up in her blanket like a bug in a rug and doesn't much trust life when she's not. One special picture graces her birth announcement, so the objective of the adventure was accomplished.

And That's Another Bulldog Point of Pride

We are all proud of Rachel's first article for the Red and Black! Congratulations, Rachel, and thanks for making us all famous by association. :)

Floor Exercise

Ellie abhors unwinding out of her blanket to have her diaper changed, so it took me a few minutes to get over my astonishment at the fun she was having and get out the camera!

Ellie at 12 Days

Ellie thinks it over while her Mia takes a (very short) break from stealing her sugar. We have heard there are people who don't want to be grandparents but we can't imagine it as we are over the moon about having a granddaughter.

Cousins Way Back When

Mike and Pendy, 1972
My goodness, how time does change one's appearance! Would anyone recognize these two as anyone in the photo from the tailgate? Mike, this one's for you (and can someone tell me why what you are wearing would be fine today and my dress...well, ridiculous)!
